lyrics

He died this morning, just past 11
No one saw it coming so he left this world alone

He had few possessions, an antique sideboard
Some worn-out records and an autograph from Jean Seberg

They say he had children who had long disowned him
Perhaps they’ll show up now, well you know how people are

Some say he was shallow, but he never claimed not to be superficial
‘Any fool can wear their heart on their sleeve,’ that’s what he used to say

So I guess he was shallow, and his life was shallow
So no one mourns his leaving, but I kind of liked him anyway
